During the practical hands-on programmes, which take place over three years for technicians and 2 years for after-sales advisors, our four apprentices receive individual mentoring and full time employment where we commit to paying for their training. In addition, progress was also monitored through a process of continuous assessment via residential training sessions at Suzuki’s training centre in Doncaster.
Denis Houston, Director of Aftersales said:
“We are now in the 13th year of our apprenticeship programme which has seen 286 very talented youngsters successfully complete the scheme. The graduates have once again been of an exceptionally high calibre. They have all put in hours of hard work alongside holding down busy jobs. This is a solid foundation for which to build their careers and they are already proving to be valuable assets to the Suzuki retail network.”
Our managing director, Robin Appleyard added:
“These apprenticeship schemes are an integral part of our customer care programme and at the same time, help to provide an important step on what we hope, will be a successful career path.”
“We are always on the lookout for bright youngsters who we can mould into the unique Colin Appleyard way of looking after our customers; after all, not everyone wants to go to university and this is a great way to learn life lasting skills.”
The latest recruits to take advantage of our ongoing apprenticeship scheme, all of whom started during 2016, are Lucille Dunn-Halliday, Apprentice Aftersales Service Advisor in Shipley, Joe Atkinson who is Apprentice Vehicle Technician at Cornmill Garage in Keighley and Kieran Child, Apprentice Motorcycle Technician, also in Keighley. Meanwhile at our Nissan dealership in Keighley, Joe Chapman has joined as an Apprentice Aftersales Service Advisor.
