Brad Jones arrived at Thruxton off the back of a difficult weekend at Brands Hatch just 2 weeks prior. Our team put together a intense programme for Fridays free practice sessions to get Brad up to speed as quickly as possible.
By Saturday's qualifying session, it was clear that Jack was able to put in some fast laps and put his Yamaha R6 in 4th position on the grid. But, his longevity in the race was still unclear.
Meanwhile, Jack shocked the onlookers by getting away with the front group where he managed to stay and battle his way
into 2nd position, just behind main championship rival Ben Currie. This was a huge achievement and a heroic ride to enable Kennedy to further protect his championship lead.
Sunday morning, was also a tough one for Jack. Having not been able to complete a lap in warm-up it wasn't clear whether he would be able to take part in Sunday's feature race. He continued battling through the pain barrier however, to run with the front pack.
Brad got off to a flying start again, mixing it with the front group for the first quarter of the race. However, as he approached the half race distance he began to drop back. Although a difficult race for Brad he still managed to bring the bike home in the point scoring position of 12th:
"Difficult weekend for me, felt good in the opening stages of each race hanging with the front group but didn’t have a great feeling with the bike as the tyres dropped off meaning I slipped back which was frustrating! We got some points on the board and lots learned for sure.
With that behind us now it’s all eyes on Cadwell where I aim to back in the top 6. Thanks to the team as always for their big effort week in week out."
"All in all a very hard weekend for me. I was initially surprised by what I was able to do on Friday. The feeling with the hand was not great but it was very important for our championship that we tried this weekend. After the race on Saturday, my condition was less than perfect so to come away with the race win and extending our lead in the championship by 25 points was incredible. I will be doing everything possible now to be fit for Cadwell Park. Thanks to my team and all my personal sponsors for their support."
