Keighley bikes history

The History of Keighley Bikes

Colin Appleyard started his career as an apprentice motorcycle mechanic, working his way through the ranks of a long established local motorcycle company to the position of Sales Director. At the age of 34 in 1970, Colin eventually took the plunge and started his own one-man business.

Colin Appleyard Motorcycles first opened in modest premises in Keighley, West Yorkshire in 1971. The original premises were quickly outgrown and in 1975 the company moved into a large town centre property of 12,000 sq. ft. Following considerable refurbishment, the new premises in Worth Way were rightly described as the biggest and best in the North of England.
